Know what you’re applying for

The kinds of funding, briefly.

Grants
Money you don’t pay back and don’t give up equity for. Most business grants for women come from foundations and companies, often monthly or yearly, and many are small but quick to apply for.
Government grants
Usually fund specific work, like research and development, rather than everyday business costs. Expect longer applications and set deadlines.
Pitch competitions
Pitch your business for a cash prize, investment, or services. Even without a win, they’re a good way to meet judges and other founders.
Accelerators
Fixed-length programs with mentorship and a cohort of founders, often with an investment in exchange for equity. Read the terms closely.
Scholarships
Cover tuition or program fees for courses, certificates, and founder programs.
Investors
Funds and angels that back women-led startups. This is equity funding: you give up part of your company in exchange.

Questions about funding

Something else? support@kinhive.com

Are there grants specifically for women-owned businesses?+
Yes. Many foundations, companies, and nonprofits run grants just for women-owned businesses, some every month. Government grants rarely cover general business costs; they usually fund specific work like research.
How does Kinhive find these opportunities?+
We search the web every week for new grants, competitions, scholarships, and programs open to women founders, and a person checks each one before it’s listed. Listings come down when their deadlines pass.
Is the list free?+
Yes. Anyone can see a few current opportunities, and Kinhive members, free forever, see the full list.
Does Kinhive fund founders?+
Profits from the Kinhive merch shop go to the Kinhive Founder Fund for members.
Should I trust every listing?+
Always confirm the details on the funder’s own site before you apply, and never pay a fee to apply for a grant. Legitimate grants don’t charge you to receive money.
